In this case, my idyllic luxury escape was 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai, a resort where history blends beautifully with elegance.
The hotel is situated in the Wat Gate neighborhood, just a short distance from the Ping River and the bustling center of Chiang Mai.
Step through the entrance and step back in time.
The name “137 Pillars House” is derived from its original structure, which was built in the late 1800s as part of the British Borneo Company’s headquarters, a base for some of first foreigners in Chiang Mai who were here during the 1800’s to source teak wood for shipbuilding.
The house was constructed on stilts, with 137 teak wood pillars supporting the main building.
Today, the hotel preserves the colonial charm of the original structure, including many of the original teak furnishings while offering modern amenities and luxurious accommodation.
Your VIP stay will be in a stunning suite with names that conjure up the regions history such as:-
The Raja Brooke Suite
The East Borneo Suite
The Louis Leon-Owens Pool Suite
Elephants feature everywhere here. The resort partners with Chiang Mai’s Elephant Nature Park, which is must see for visitors…
Overall, 137 Pillars House is a tranquil retreat in the heart of Chiang Mai, combining historic elegance with contemporary luxury to provide guests with a memorable and immersive experience in Northern Thailand.
