Koh Samet (sometimes spelled Ko Samet or Koh Samed) is one of the handy weekend paradise island destinations not far from Bangkok.
Koh Samet is close to the mainland so its a quick trip by ferry.
The island is part of the Khao Laem Ya–Mu Koh Samet National Park, and boasts beautiful white beaches, clear blue water and many different bays and coves. Some beaches are very lively, others tranquil.
Amenities mix from rustic bungalows to mid-range resorts to more upscale spots. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and nightlife (especially in peak times).
