Our home for the next few days was the MS Liberty. A comfortable cruiser 233 feet in length and 43 feet wide. A luxurious haven of 66 junior and 6 presidential suites, restaurants, pool and sundeck. There was no better way to trace the course of Egyptian history and to follow the Nile on this cruise ship. The river has been Egypt’s lifeline since it began its flow – fertilizing the narrow strip of land along its bank with a deposit of silt. The world’s longest river, it flows for 6,690 km, from Africa to the Mediterranean Sea – a journey that takes it though nine different countries.
